Scan & Intake

Scanning Documents

Upload or photograph a receipt, bill, rent check, or lease and let the app fill in the record.

The Scan page is where you hand the app a document instead of typing. Upload a photo or PDF and Rental Command reads it, then asks you to confirm a draft.

Scan a document

  1. Open Scan a Document.
  2. Under "What are you scanning?" pick the type:
    • Receipt / Bill → becomes an expense
    • Rent Check / Payment → becomes a payment
    • Maintenance Request → becomes a work order
    • Lease Agreement → becomes a lease
  3. Drag in (or take) a photo or PDF.
  4. The app uploads it and opens the draft. While it reads the document you'll see "Reading your document…"; this usually takes a few seconds.
  5. Review the extracted fields and Confirm. See Reviewing drafts.

What each type needs from you

  • Receipt / Bill — confirm the amount and category; mark it already paid or an unpaid bill. You can attach it to a property.
  • Rent Check / Payment — choose which lease the payment is for.
  • Maintenance Request — choose which property the work order is for.
  • Lease Agreement — choose the property and unit (required) and a tenant (or let it create one from the lease).

Your scan list

Below the upload area, every scan is listed with its status — Processing, Ready to review, Confirmed, Failed, or Rejected. Use the tabs to filter. Click any row to review it; a confirmed scan links straight to the record it created.

Bulk import leases

Have a stack of existing leases? Click Bulk import leases to upload several at once and review them together as a batch. Recent imports show as quick links back into review.
